Homework Assignment for our next meeting

Hey everyone. We had a great meeting tonight at The Fish Market. Nate Monet did a great presentation teaching us about finding domain names, web hosting; tips and tricks. We really appreciate all the work that he put into it and we appreciate him sharing with us all that he has learned. Many thanks to Nate!

Although, we may have jumped the gun a bit in asking Nate to share his tips with us just now. We really need to back up a step or two and learn how to search for a product. You can't get a domain name and set up a website without picking the right product.

So...we are going to start at Step One! This is going to be a little elementary for some, but hopefully helpful to others. I am going to give you some simple steps to follow. I want you to actually practice this process...over and over. When you come to the next meeting bring with you one product that you have researched.

Step 1.  Go to amazon.com.  This is an easy place to look at products and find out information about products that are selling well. That's what you ... a BIG seller. Amazon is not consistent about where they post the links for "Best Sellers". Look around the page. Learn how to use Amazon.

Step 2.  Once you pick a good selling product, go to adwords.google.com. Scroll down the page a bit and click on "Get keyword ideas". Enter your product name and evaluate the results. You want a product with over 25,000 hits a month and less that 2,500 competitors. Look at the different options here and enter your product different ways. Enter your product name in " ". If the product results aren't favorable, go back to Step 1.

Step 3.  Do a search for a domain name at a domain name site of your choosing. Here are a few to choose from:
      cheapcheapdomainnames.com
domaindiscover.com (I have used this site; very reputable)
      godaddy.com
Practice entering different domain names and look at the results. It may show that the domain is available to purchase or may show that it is NOT available. If you cannot get the domain name that you want, make slight changes in it. It is best to only use .com, .net or .org. If you are not sure about moving forward and actually purchasing a domain, at least go to one of the sites and practice entering names. We will talk more about matching your domain name with your product at the next meeting.

At least practice doing Step 1 and Step 2 with several products. This is a process that you need to learn. If you don't pick a good selling product you won't have good sells.

Doing Step 1 and Step 2 won't cost you anything, so spend time on these sites. Play around, learn different ways to search, learn the options on the sites and get comfortable looking around them.

I hope this is helpful to you. It was good to see and visit with you tonight and hope to see you again. Thanks to Maggie for getting the meeting site for us.

Are We Having Fun Yet?

Hey everyone. I hope you had a great week and are doing things to get you started. I did lots of research this week trying to get my game on.

As you get started and are looking for information, two thoughts for you:
1. You can "google" for just about anything! If you have a question about any of this know that information is out there on the internet.
2. Check out your local library. I found lots of books to help me. If you
can't find books in the topic you want - ask for help. I found some
great books. I've been reading all week! Whew!

If you haven't done so yet, be sure to get registered with blogger.com, AdSense (Google), and Amazon affiliates program. Go to the sites, find the links and register.

You should be about ready to kick in gear! Go get 'em!!

Get an ad up this week!

Welcome to the Birmingham M.R.M.I. Support Group

If you are here, you were probably at Stephen Pierce's Making Real Money on the Internet Seminar in Birmingham, AL this past weekend!  And what a weekend it was!!

I don't know about you, but I could hardly take in all the material that he presented. This is why you are here with us. It would be great if we could have Stephen here holding our hands the whole time, but that is not possible. A few of us were talking and felt that if we knew we had at least some local support that we would be more likely to succeed.  So the next best thing would be to help each other.

We are setting up this blog for sharing information, asking questions about problems we are having, answering questions, and letting others know about things that have worked well for them.  When you post questions and comments to share, please keep it brief.

If you attended the seminar, then I know that you are at least interested in learning more about internet marketing. If you are participating in our support group, I am assuming that you are serious about moving forward and putting into action the principles that Stephen taught this weekend.

Stephen gave us more than enough information to get started and more than enough motivation, so...

LET'S GET STARTED...

For the first post on our blog, I would like to challenge everyone to follow the very steps that Stephen talked to us about on Sunday...getting started.

Before we jump into our program, we need to develop our own individual plan of attack. Only you can decide what that is. So I would suggest that this week we each develop on paper our own little business model, if you will.

  1. SET GOALS:
    • Think about what you really want out of this and what you want to accomplish.
    • Now WRITE YOUR GOALS ON PAPER! And keep them posted where you can see them. You want to keep your eye on the prize!
    • Give yourself a time limit on when you want to see results on the short run and the long run. Eg, Where do you want to be in 30 days, 60 days and say, by the end of this year?
  2. SET YOUR OBJECTIVES
    • What are the ways that you want to employ to achieve your goals?
    • Again, write it down with your goals.
    • Examples could be:
      • Learn the art of selecting a product (Stephen has definitely developed the art and has shown us how to learn it.)
      • Maybe, first, develop your skills learning about monetizing by using blogs. It's easy and very cheap!
      • Learn the ins-and-outs of developing ad sites using your own domains
      • Learn how to utilize WordPress
      • Get into the arena of CPA programs
    • Prioritize your objective list. Don't try to run before you walk.
  3. DEVELOP YOUR ACTIVITIES TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR OBJECTIVE
    • What are the specific activities that you will do to put make your objectives become real?
    • You can use Stephen's "Focus" techniques to help you get specific here:
      • WHAT do you want to do?
      • WHERE will you do it?
      • WHEN will you work on it? And remember, work on it at least 30 minutes.
      • For each of the items on your objective list, you should write "activities" to accomplish it.
  4. COMMIT YOURSELF TO DOING IT!!
    • We will help each other, give support and encouragement, but you have to do it.
This is already longer than I wanted to write and probably longer than you wanted to be reading. But I want to encourage you to do this with us. I know you want to do it or you would not have spent the three days at the seminar just to hear what Stephen had to say. You attended because you wanted to learn new skills and then go do it...so LET'S GET STARTED!!!

We will be setting up an email list, using the blog to share info, and communicating through Facebook. You will be getting info via email as we get sites developed. Please be patient with us.

Good Luck to everyone!
